  • Abstract
    Due to the high accuracy, Daubechies wavelet-based elements have been widely used in many engineering problems. However, comparing with traditional elements, wavelet-based elements always bring in more calculation works, especially as a higher element order is selected. It should be discussed in detail that on the promise of ensuring accuracy, how to select a proper order of Daubechies wavelet-based elements to reduce the calculation works. Based on several numerical examples, the influences of element order on calculation accuracy are studied. Aiming at Daubechies wavelet-based bar and beam elements, the principles for selecting the lowest element order are presented.
