Abstract :
The applications of electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structures on two different kinds of microstrip antennas are demonstrated. EBG structures with wider band-gap bandwidth are more favorable in wideband applications, especially in enhancing the impedance matching bandwidth of an antenna. The analysis and experimental results on various antennas, including dipole, using EBG structures are compared and discussed.
