Abstract
The paper describes AgentX, a program that facilitates distributed problem solving in the context of a parametric design process. The `AgentX´ refers to computer programs that act on behalf of people, encapsulating design problem-solving knowledge in the form of constraints on parameters. The `X´ designates the capabilities to coordinate design process by controlling the sequence of agent operation and resolving conflicts by axiomatic negotiation
