Abstract :
A novel type of spiral EBG lattice is proposed to enhance the bandwidth of a multi-band antenna. The use of the EBG lattice offers more flexibility in terms of matching and compactness as no additional estate area is required. To implement our analysis, a triple-band rectangular-ring slot antenna with spiral EBG feed has been designed, fabricated and tested. For comparison purpose, a CPW fed reference antenna has also been fabricated and tested. From the measured results, we find that the EBG on the feedline can effectively increase all of the bandwidths of the reference antenna. Good agreement is also achieved between the simulated results and the measured ones.
