Abstract :
The paper presents an investigation into ring shaped monopole antennas with the objective of developing compact low-cost antennas for ultra-wideband applications. The designed antennas are of small size, in the order of 2.5 cm diameter, and exhibit 8:1 10-dB return loss bandwidth ranging from 2.33 GHz to more than 12 GHz. They feature an omnidirectional radiation pattern in azimuth plane and symmetric radiation pattern in elevation plane.
