Abstract :
A new time division multiplexing technique named overlapped time division multiplexing (OVTDM) is presented in this paper. OVTDM technique provides a new method to achieve high spectral efficiency, and with this technique, high spectral efficiency can be obtained even with low order modulation. Moreover, the performance of the OVTDM is better than that of QAM modulation in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system with the same spectral efficiency. The advantage of OVTDM over QAM in OFDM becomes more and more obvious with the increase of the spectral efficiency. The spectral efficiency, reliability and complexity of OVTDM are analyzed in detail. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the OVTDM is the better signaling scheme in performance. However, its complexity grows exponentially with the increase of the spectral efficiency.
