Abstract :
The world market of motor-driven home labor-saving devices such as kitchen robots, washing machines, dryers, refrigerators, deep freezers, washing-up machines and many others exceeds 150 billion Euros and the growth rate is 1.5% per annum. Around 45% of engineers work within design, production and research fields, thus a new smart measuring instrument for motor-driven domestic labor-saving devices was the target utilizing National Instruments hardware, accessories and adequate software further developed. The low-cost smart instrument can perform on-line diagnostics of electrical household appliances. It measures voltage, current, rotational speed and temperature of the machine concerned while three tests independent from each other can be performed simultaneously. The instrument works by different power source meeting either European or US even Japan Standards. Specific methods are used for timing conventional multiplexing technologies. The operation of the machine under test incorporates user-defined Run-Stop time intervals also independent from each other. Safety against overheating and/or over current provides signals and switch-off set up by the user. Each machine under test is controlled through a magnetic switch from the software. The required data, samples can be acquired/drawn, recorded, transmitted and stored. On-line monitoring of parameters is available, detailed analysis is performed offline. To be more competitive, the instrument was particularly developed for design and production divisions of respective industry.
