  • Abstract
    An electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) surface is utilized as the ground plane for the slots on rectangular waveguides to achieve a low-profile design. The coupling properties between slots in typical positions of a rectangular waveguide slot array are analyzed in detail with FDTD. Numerical results demonstrate the applicability of this concept to reduce the degree of mutual coupling significantly.
