Abstract :
A simulation study of indoor multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel capacity in a realistic propagation environment using Wireless InSite, a ray tracing simulation tool, is carried out. A realistic mobile station (receiver) consisting of a four-element diversity antenna on a personal digital assistant (PDA) terminal operating at 5.2 GHz is studied. The receiver takes into account mutual coupling and casing effects. The results show that using the four-element diversity antenna on a PDA terminal can offer a significant increase in channel capacity compared to a single-input single-output (SISO) system.
