            Abstract : 
This paper presents a novel monopole antenna backed by a U-shaped ground plane for broadband dual-frequency operation. By varying the angle of the inclined ground plane, dual-band operation, with its operating mode centered at about 2.4 GHz, 5.2 GHz and 5.8 GHz can be obtained. Good broadside radiation characteristics for the proposed antenna are also observed.
