Abstract :
This article presents a method for extending discrete cosine transform (DCT) to multiple dimensions along the spatial and temporal domains for image coding. A case study of a hybrid coder with two-dimensional (2-D) and four-dimensional (4-D) DCTs is presented along with suggestions for generating a matching quantisation matrix based on the human visual system (HVS)
