Abstract :
This paper presents a novel omni-directional small Ultra Wide Band (UWB) patch antenna. The proposed geometry is composed of a circular patch which is inlayed with a bucket shaped patch top loaded on a monopole and shorted by 4 shorting strips to the ground is presented. The antenna is excited by a coaxial probe feed. It has a stable radiation pattern and a constant gain in the band of operation. Proposed geometry offers a very wide impedance bandwidth of 127% (for VSWR <2) from the frequency range of 2.3 GHz to 10.6 GHz. The antenna is low profile and small in size which has the resonance length of 0.25 lambdao. A novel method to excite the axial probe feed via a conical tube patch broadened the bandwidth of the structure.
