Abstract :
The paper raise a problem of dynamic mass measurement using conveyor belt type checkweighers. One of the available ways to perform the dynamic mass measurement is to apply filtration techniques. In such cases, the mass estimate can be obtained from the measurement signal, smoothed during the filtration process. If the speed of a conveyor belt is high, it is necessary to consider the transient response of a filter caused by a step-like change of the measurement signal. Since in the class of time-invariant filters the transient time and the level of disturbances attenuation cannot be tuned simultaneously, the possibility of performing measurement with a desired accuracy is restricted. The time-variant filter, described in this paper, is able to meet both requirements and thus offers a further improvement.
