Abstract
In this paper, the theory of connecting versatile capacitive based converters such as the General Transposed Series Parallel converter to a Photovoltaic Source is presented. The "soft" source characteristics make it a natural power source for working with a Switched Capacitor converter. The soft source is connected to the load with a Switched Capacitor converter as an interface for meeting the power source as well as the load characteristics requirements. Inductor based converters as well as capacitive based converters performances are analyzed when connected to a Soft source such as PV source and compared to the performance with an ideal rigid voltage source. The paper shows an analysis and comparison of connecting Switched Capacitor converters to a rigid source and an ideas Soft source as well as non-ideal Soft source. Key loss mechanisms and advantages of the use of SC converter with Soft sources are discussed as well.
