Abstract :
The optimum demodulator in BICM-ID receivers has high complexity in impulsive environments. Approximation methods are proposed for both the Bernoulli-Gaussian noise channel and the Middleton Class-A. A Jocabian approximation with threshold is presented to replace the sum of two exponentials. The Class-A model is simplified to the Bernoulli- Gaussian or the Gaussian. Simulation results show that the new methods have little performance degradation compared with the optimum, and are better than the foregone suboptimal ones for both channels.
