Abstract :
This article studies the shielding effectiveness of enclosures formed of multilayer dielectric walls containing absorbent materials for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) purposes. A simulation program based on the multifilament method is implemented for two-dimensional analysis of such structures. After its validation by comparison with the analytical solution for some canonical examples, instances of practical interest in EMC are treated. In particular, shielding effectiveness curves for E and H fields are obtained for TE and TM excitations. The performance of polyaniline, a conductive polymer of current interest for shielding applications, is illustrated with the aid of an example
