Abstract :
The basic properties of electromagnetic waveguides involving indefinite media are analyzed. A detailed study about the modes propagating in several types of waveguides, filled with indefinite media, is presented. We investigate the conditions under which modes are guided by planar and rectangular cross section waveguides. Several uncommon properties, such as the coexistence of forward and backward modes and contra-directional coupling, are demonstrated.
