Abstract

Maintaining a hierarchical communication system with different components participating in data exchange is a complex task that requires a management infrastructure, which allows controlling and monitoring all components. This paper introduces the management system concept for a communication system that is based on power-line communication (PLC) and an IP-based backbone. The management system is independent of the PLC system; therefore it is able to be being used on different communication media like GSM networks or IP-based networks
