Abstract :
This paper outlines the major requirements and concepts of a computer-aided learning aid for power electronic systems and gives the characteristics of a prototype of an expert system named CATPELS. The open architecture of the run-time version of the CATPELS software provides not only the basic information for beginners and all the required tools for specialists but also provides the capabilities to customize one´s specific requirements. The main characteristics of CATPELS and the user facilities are also detailed
