Abstract :
A new method for measuring a given cross-section diameter of the cone by the coordinate measuring machine is presented in this paper. Firstly, the surface of the cone is sampled by the coordinate measuring machine, then the cone equation parameters are obtained based on these data. Secondly, sample the circle of the conical cross section in the specified location. Thirdly the linear interpolation of small neighborhood (LIOSN) is presented to determine the points in the circle of the sectional. Finally, the diameter of sectional circle is obtained through the method of least squares. As opposed to the traditional direct measurement method by using the coordinate measuring machine, the new measurement method has improved measurement accuracy greatly. The accuracy is improved 5μm to 2μm.
