Abstract :
A composite right/left-handed waveguide-type transmission line with a variable phase constant is proposed. The transmission line is composed of a cutoff waveguide and short stubs. The phase constant can be changed from -30 deg. to +30 deg. per a unit cell by moving a dielectric in the stubs and the top wall of the stubs mechanically. The phase constant changes continuously because the right-handed mode always exists just above the left-handed frequency band without a band gap.
