Abstract :
We review the progress made on spatial solitons with an emphasis on photorefractive solitons and their interactions. We then discuss the possibility to utilize photorefractive solitons for applications in optical interconnects, waveguide devices such as directional couplers, and high-efficiency nonlinear frequency conversion. Finally, we talk about recent work on incoherent solitons along with the resulting fundamental ideas and potential applications
