Abstract :
A characterisation procedure is described to locate stable operating points of a GCSR laser. The characterisation algorithm reduces the characterisation time of a GCSR laser from days to 30 minutes. Any wavelength in the tuning range of the laser is available. The laser can then be used to meet any wavelength/frequency plan e.g. ITU G692. This algorithm was applied to a GCSR laser and 38 nm tuning was obtained from 1566.57 nm to 1528.66 nm (191.5 THz to 196.25 THz). The accuracy was better than ± 3GHz
