The 26-year history of the Tokyo Metropolitan Prosthetic and Orthotic Research Institute will come to an end on March 1997. The research and development and achievements of this institute up to now will then be incorporated into the Welfare Device Center (its tentative name), scheduled to open in June 1997. With the abolition of the Tokyo Metropolitan Prosthetic and Orthotic Research Institute, I present the history of this institute thus far, as well as the achievements of our research and development
