Abstract
This paper provides a profile for human-in-the-loop disassembly design, an emerging area as a result of growing concerns for material resources, energy conservation and landfill capacity. A discussion of disassembly challenges is first presented with a focus on the impacts of human factors on disassembly decision making. A generic model is then proposed as a solution to human-in-the-loop system design. Finally, the paper elaborates the learning controller, a core part of the system that optimizes disassembly process.
