Abstract :
This paper presents an alternative to vehicle ad hoc networks: an addressing mechanism based on IPv6-Multicast and LTE which allows a position-dependent and dynamic addressing of road users. Here the initial geographical position of a message is directly incorporated into the IPv6 multicast address. This allows not only an effective pre-filtering on the receiving end but also a routing in the backbone. By using existing eCall components such as GPS and wireless modules, no additional special hardware is required. This cost reduction as well as the reduced complexity makes this solution a highly competitive solution for Car-to-Car (C2C) communication.
