Abstract :
We evaluate traffic scheduling and QoS via a simulation model for wireless multimedia applications. This model utilizes a scheduling mechanism for performance assessment for different users carrying different applications. The scheduling mechanism is verified via simulations with a variety traffic characteristics and performance metrics. A toolbox for the model has been developed in MATLAB environment, where a traffic scheduler is implemented. The purpose of developing this model is to ease and generalise the concept of multimedia traffic scheduling so that it can be extended to simulate real applications, where a new set of QoS parameters may be defined.
