            Abstract :
The authors introduce a common modeling framework making it possible to develop tractable analytic models of optical star networks with reservation-based control. Reservation-based wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) optical star systems, and in particular the Quadro-based receiver design, have the performance advantages of high capacity, low response time, and adaptability to changing traffic flows. Using the modeling framework introduced, tractable approximate models of reservation-controlled WDM stars were derived. It was shown that the framework allows the representation of different control strategies, while resulting in only a very small error
