Abstract :
High purity iron sheets were cold rolled and then irradiated with N2+ ions. Particles of iron nitride (Fe16 N2:α") were formed in the specimens. With increasing rolling reduction, hardness of the specimen increases. TEM observations showed that sizes of α" decreased and number density of α" increased with reduction rate. Interactions between nitrogen atoms and irradiation damages are discussed
