Abstract
In this paper, we propose to enhance EDCA for IEEE 802.11 WLANs with a simple and effective scheme called PEDCA, which introduces the transmission probability to the basic EDCA. By dynamically adjusting the transmission probability of each priority class according to the network load, our scheme can offer an enhanced guarantee of QoS to high priority class at high traffic load conditions. The simulation results show that PEDCA outperforms EDCA in terms of throughput and average delay while providing good service differentiation.
