  • Abstract
The author applies a recently proposed shafting design criterion to the special case of a diesel-engine crankshaft. He shows how this criterion can be used in a probability-based approach to crankshaft design. This approach is then used to determine the reliability and life expectancy characteristics of an example crankshaft
