Abstract :
In this paper, a new method to measure human´s reaction time on local contrast is introduced. It is believed the reaction time is highly correlated with the response strength on local contrasts in human visual system. Using the proposed method, a large set of subjective viewing data were then collected, and a full-range (from near-threshold to suprathreshold) contrast perception model on low dynamic range display is built. Based on the proposed model and Plainis´ reaction time model, a new realistic tone-mapping operator, which minimizes the perception difference of local contrasts between HDR and LDR images, is proposed. Experimental results confirmed the performance of the proposed operator.
