Abstract :
As one of the best solutions for FTTH, EPON provides 1 Gbit/ s upstream/ downstream bandwidth. Meanwhile, all kinds of high-bandwidth services such as VOD, teleconferencing and distance learning have been running over an access network and over LANs. In this paper, we present a novel implementation of VLAN-based multicast in EPON system. Using LLID (Logical Links Identifier) to carry multicast VLAN, which is mapped with IP multicast address, RS sub-layers can exactly filter and distribute multicast data frames. The basic ideas, detailed process of implementation are given in this paper, and the verification and test procedure is also provided.
