Abstract :
A number of previous studies have assessed the performance of torus networks with same bisection bandwidth. In this paper, the performance of torus networks is studied under the assumption of constant node size and constant channel width. We investigate the effect of dimension on the performance of different topologies. Results obtained through simulation experiments confirm the predictions on the model. It is shown that higher-dimensional torus networks have lower mean flit latency and higher throughput than lower- dimensional ones. But, high-dimensional torus networks also may bring about some problems on cost and complexity.
