Abstract
Summary form only given. Ultrahigh-speed optical time-division multiplexed (OTDM) systems usually output very short pulses even when the bit rate has been downconverted. This paper reports all-optical bit-width conversion of ultrashort return-to-zero (RZ) data pulses using a multiple-electrode laser diode (LD) with only DC-bias electric power and optical triggering.
