Study on IMS Service Broker

The 3^rd generation partnership project define a service capability interaction manager (SCIM) function in the IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) architecture to manage interactions among applications. This paper focuses on the service broker (SB) that has been designed as a SCIM and describe the structure of the service broker. We also introduce the architecture of the Lucent service broker and demonstrate how the service broker be used. In the IMS network the service broker provides an additional set of services on top of the existing S-CSCF initial filter criteria. It can dynamically load steplets, which instruct the SB how to handle the incoming SIP message or HTTP message.
