            Abstract : 
This paper presents an improved fourier algorithm which is free of the effect by decaying dc component. Simulation results indicate that the new algorithm can effectively inhibit the decaying am periodic components in power system transient state. The new method can be used in power system relay protection to calculate the amplitude and phase angle of each harmonic component.
