Abstract :
The paper introduces a novel video transmission system designed to work over a MAP stack using the MMS protocol. The transmission of images allows powerful remote monitoring capabilities in industrial environments, while the utilization of the versatile MMS protocol gives the system great flexibility and tight integration into factory networks. The main characteristics of the system and the devised protocols are described. Then, a first implementation developed by the authors is presented, demonstrating the viability of the proposal. A preliminary study on the impact of video transmission over network traffic is also presented
