Abstract :
The automobiles of today employ ever more complex electrical and electronic systems to achieve ever more sophisticated engine management. Therefore these systems have to be designed to achieve stringent quality and robustness, while at the same time cutting costs and development time, despite the need for managing an ever increasing number of system and component variants. In order to succeed at cutting development time, the design of the drive electronic control needs to be started even before the targeted component is available as hardware. Therefore simulation is required from the very beginning of the development process. The efficient handling of complex simulation tasks needed in this context requires the integration of a powerful network simulator into the CAE tool used for drive electronic control design. In this way no errors can stem from transferring the circuit diagram from the CAE tool into the simulator. Most importantly, through the parallel design and verification of the circuit costly retroactive design changes can be avoided, since design change requirements resulting from the simulation can be directly inserted into the original circuit diagram. This verification-based robust design methodology is demonstrated for developing a BLDC drive electronic control.
