Abstract :
The automatic recognition of vehicle type plays an important role in traffic management and automatic toll collection. The research of the recognition mainly focuses on the application of fuzzy theory and neural network theory at present. This paper presents a method which applies extension set and dependent function to process the characteristic data of vehicle. The method can identify common cars, buses and trucks. It also establishes the relationship between the characteristic data of vehicle and the real number. It is of great help to the standardization of computer processing.
