Abstract :
We consider the basic principles and methods of designing and coordinating decentralized and distributed artifact systems by referring to bio-informatics based analyses of living systems through which effective collaboration and symbiosis with human beings; other artifacts and environments will harmoniously be attained. For this purpose, we focus our attentions to the modularity of system organizations and the interactions among modular sub-systems. The theoretical and experimental analyses are then integrated into design and coordination theories of decentralized and distributed artifact systems. Particularly, the aspects on the interactions via communication, action and process coordination among modules are examined in detail
