Abstract :
Owing to the multi-path scattering between targets and sea surface of imperfect electrical conductivity, ships and corner reflectors are rather unrecognizable by employing standard odd-time and even-time polarization scattering models. Therefore, this paper puts forward a method based on new modified odd-time and even-time scattering models which take into account the polarization modulation induced by sea surface. General theoretical analysis is carried out, and then quad-polarization data simulated by electromagnetic software are used to verify the advantage of the modified models in feature extraction and classification. The results show that the polarization similarity features extracted by the modified models have better separability for marine target recognition.
