Abstract
The major problem facing developing nations is to strike the correct balance between automation and manpower utilization and between socioeconomic considerations and human ethical values while planning the latest advances in medicine, engineering, science and technology. The authors view as a challenge the working out of realistic solutions to health care needs in India. They argue that interdisciplinary coordination with health care and medicare authorities can lead to the evolution of a satisfactory program of manpower utilization and automation. In the developing nations, there is a vital need to educate and enlighten the masses about the role of automation in order to eradicate the notion that automation will replace manpower.<>
