  • Abstract
High global warming potential of SF6 gas has stimulated the active studies of searching for a substitute gas or mixture with lower environmental impact. As there exist many hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and perfluorocarbons (PFCs) with much lower warming potential than SF6, we suggest the possibility of applying a mixture composed of one such gas with reduced warming potential. Furthermore, a component gas with higher boiling point than SF6 may mitigate the difficulty of recovering the component gas in liquid state. This paper discusses the application of c-C4F8 (perfluorocyclobutan, C-318) for a gas mixture examining the environmental, physical and electrical aspects
