Abstract :
Recent analysis has resulted in an innovative technique for forming spotlight synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images without the multiple-bounce (MB) ghosting artifacts that arise in traditional methods. This paper develops expressions for the measurement extents and sampling intervals in both frequency and aperture angle, which are required for a desired image resolution and extent in terms of the down-range coordinate, the cross-range coordinate, and the multiple-bounce or "delay" coordinate. The resulting analysis is validated via simulated frequency response data that includes the effects of multiple-bounce scattering.
