Abstract :
A fractal coding method commonly used for images is adapted to ECG signals. Parameters in the method are empirically optimized to fit the ECG characteristics, and test results are shown on typical sample signals. We also investigate methods for speeding up the fractal encoding, and compare results from these methods with the basic algorithm
