Abstract :
This paper presents the development of 1 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) test facility and real operation. This system consists of lead acid batteries, an AC/DC power conversion system and a monitoring control system. The main items of the operation test are; basic performance test for load leveling and operation test. The operation test is carried our for interconnection performance. The system is connected to the utility system and tested to establish the system technology for load leveling and BESS operation algorithm considering time of use rate and a subsidy for power factor correction
