Abstract :
The electrical characteristics of stearic acid LB films for the horizontal direction were investigated to develop a gas sensor using LB films. The optimum conditions for film deposition were obtained through a π-A isotherms; a surface pressure of 25[dyne/cm] was obtained with ultra-thin film deposition. The deposition status of stearic acid LB films was verified by the measurement of capacitance which increased with the number of layers. The thickness of electrode was estimated at about 1000[Å] by the I-V (current-voltage) characteristics for the horizontal direction. The I-V (current-time) and I-V characteristics was measured to investigate the response properties of organic gases. Furthermore, we could distinguish the difference of I-V (current density-voltage) characteristics for the gases. Also we verified the electrical conduction shift as the number of layers increased. We show that it results from the difference of electronic affinity and conduction mechanism
