Abstract :
A circuit that offers a high degree of power factor correction at a minimal level of circuit complexity is presented. This circuit offers an attractive method of extracting a large amount of the power available from an energy-limited source. The performance and complexity penalties are small when compared with other methods of improving the input power factor. The design of this circuit is noncritical, with broad optimum for all parameters. The circuit is analyzed and the design equations are presented. The advantages of this circuit over active approaches include open-loop operation, low-output voltage, and higher efficiency
