Abstract :
This paper describes experimental results aiming at analyzing commercial Li-Polymer and Ni-MH batteries performances at extreme temperatures. A climatic test chamber has been used to simulate these conditions, in addition to simple electronic circuits for charging and discharging. Charge and discharge experimental curves of voltage and current versus time at different temperatures are given for temperatures ranging from -40°C to 80°C. Finally, the amount of charge stored to the batteries during the charge cycle at extreme temperature is presented.
